Michelson Impact Ventures is a social change fund deploying impact investment capital into mission-aligned, for-profit start-ups in education, future of work, healthcare, human-animal bond, veterinary health, and future of food.
It’s also part of Michelson Philanthropies, started by Dr. Gary K. Michelson and Alya Michelson to catalyze transformative change and create a positive impact to a host of challenges in California and beyond.
Michelson Impact Ventures reached out to our agency at its inception to aid in both branding and online presence.
Any time our agency embarks on a branding project for a client, we first define the scope — how deep does the client want the brand exploration to be and how many variable paths should be teased out for them. Next, we meet with the client and have them embark on a brand development exercise to define goals, audiences, messaging, and other areas that feed into the brand build. Then we created brand decks that explore the variable brands and create mock-ups so the client can see how the brand could exist in the world, not just in two dimensions on a page or screen.
After finalizing MIV’s brand, including two separate logos and a brand mark, brand colorways, fonts, and recommended paired fonts, we created a one-sheet with best practices and diagnostics and prepared their logo package of variable files.
For their site, MIV had us work within the WordPress design framework Divi, building standard informational pages as well as a portfolio of over 70 companies they support across 15 countries, filterable by geography, program, and sector.
