The Centre for Humanitarian Data is an NGO based in The Hague, Netherlands that is focused on increasing the use and impact of data in the humanitarian sector. It’s managed by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA). As part of OCHA’s Information Management Branch, the Centre’s role is to enable the organization to deliver on its ambition to be more data-driven and analytical, and to ensure a responsible approach to technology and data management.
Our agency was asked to develop and manage the design and branding for the Centre’s first-ever Humanitarian Data Forum in The Hague in June of 2024, bringing together UN agencies, international and local NGOs, governments and donors, the private sector, and academia “to shape the future of humanitarian data.” The in-person event also marked the ten-year anniversary of the Humanitarian Data Exchange (HDX), an open platform for sharing data across crises and organizations.
In addition to developing an overarching event brand along with a web presence, presentation decks, name badges, print and digital banners and signage, programs, and event take-aways like totes, notebooks, and commemorative pins, we were also invited to attend the event in The Hague to help the Centre with last-minute needs and meet with colleagues in person.
Our work with the Centre and affiliates expanded to include branding of Centre digital products and web presences, along with an ongoing advisory role.
